Looks like Valve is planning to make trade confirmations mandatory. Remains to be seen how this would affect dispenser.

If there is some way to do manual approval instead of using the mobile authenticator, then there is no effect. If it is mandatory to connect a Steam account to some sort of mobile device to trade then there could be trouble.

so dispenser will die if this happen ?

Theoretically not all Steam users have a mobile device with iOS / Android to just force this. But when they implement trade conformation with fingerprints I will start worring about this site.

Not really, it depends on how they implement it. For example, if we can use one device to set up mobile authenticator for all bot accounts, we probably can handle the authorization automatically with winauth.

this is ridiculous, I think it will be optional, not everyone has a smartphone, I will not put my private number on Steam

No one can see you number lol

You can only use one phone number per authenticator app I believe.

There is nothing wrong with the authenticator app, it's just like any of the other authenticator apps, it's more secure then email.

This might work https://winauth.com/2015/06/11/steam-guard-mobile/

if buyer dont have mobile i need wait several days? "Valve to add "escrow" to trading, which holds items in every trade for a period of time likely up to several days, unless both parties have mobile app Steam Guard enabled"

is ridiculous ,mate

Hopefully there is going to be so much objection that they make this change optional. Otherwise they are going to waste a lot of our time again to find workaround.

rip bots? rip trade?

Just an update; as of now, trade offers are already showing this banner:

This is definately affect automated trading in bad way. Dispenser i guess can still function by sending all gifts via gifting (even tradable). Users will be required to mobile protect their accounts in order to trade with dispenser bots. That could reduce userbase by some amount. Withdrawing keys could be problem - but i see fix that uses some kind of android emulator for main dispenser vaults. Worst case = key withdrawals pre-approved by Joto just like bitcoin withdrawals.

I think as they put the Email Confirmation for Trading optional that was much better than forcing something like this escrow thingy. And that Email confirmation for Trading is a bit more secure than turning it off and I liked that update but this Escrow thingy forced down my throat i really, really don't like it. I think lots of people find this bad for business.
