We are pleased to release our new addition to Dispenser.tf - Market.

Here is a short FAQ about the new site, hopefully it will answer most commonly asked questions.

1. What is the difference between Dispenser.tf market and the Steam's community market?

Here is a few:

a. Our base credit is "Key" and "Bitcoin".
b. We feature trading between Bitcoin, Steam gifts (including untradable ones) and key interchanging.
c. Our fee is much lower than Steam market's, which should result in lowered item price.
d. We do not have the design flaw that the final exchange price only follows the user's input price, but ignoring if there are better price orders on the book.

2. Why make a market system at all?

We have been criticized for being too buyer unfriendly for having a poor search system and a somewhat complicated interface. The old system could not be further improved due to technical difficulties. For example, we could sort items by price as we did not have a common currency. We hope a market system can solve many of these problems and at the same time adds useful features. Also, there is a need to change the business model so that the website is actually self-sustainable and rewarding for increasing the amount of users. In our old model, more people using the website gives us no real benefit but paying more for the maintenance.

3. What will happen to the old system?

The old system will be kept for now. If you prefer the old style, you still can create those 'tradition trades'. However, we will no longer list these trades under the main page and search also won't support it. As a seller, that means you will have to send out your trade links directly to your buyers. The old system won't be developed much anymore. It's only kept to waive fee for sellers who have their own customers base and do not rely on the site to get exposure.

4. What is the new fee system?

We will be charging fee to support the long-term development of the site. It is a progressive structure that the fee percent is based on the volume traded in 30 days.

June is going to be the public beta testing period. We will not be taking any fees until July 13 BTC issue is resolved. But the trade volume you have made in this period will still be counted, which means your fee could be as low as 0.25% once we start taking fee.

5. Are there any other updates to the site?

In addition to the market, we have made two very important updates to fix certain important problems.

a. CS:GO trading no longer uses Valve's abandoned API. There should be no longer any downtime for CS:GO trading and at the same time we have added skin, exteriors and various item info to all CS:GO items.

b. Gem, trading cards and other community items now will be distributed via centralized bots, to bypass a limitation added by Valve recently that disabled limited accounts (including our bots) for trading these items. You may now notice trade offers coming from non-shop bots when you exchange these items.

c. Lots of bug fixes and an interface change, mainly to adapt to the market system.

6. So, how should I get started?

As a buyer, the only real change about purchasing item is that there is one more step involved: depositing keys for credit. After you have convert your keys to credit, you will search and buy your items just like how you used to, in a slightly different interface. But if you have experience in the Steam market or other similar markets, our market should not be difficult to use at all. It is like Steam market with keys and Bitcoin as currency. Please read the FAQ if you need some help.

As a seller, making orders may be more troublesome than before if you have many different types of items, due to the limitation that you can only update one market at a time. But now you have more options for your trades, for example selling a gift for 6.05 keys, or re-selling gifts by putting ask and bid orders in the same market etc. We will continue to improve the interface so that handling a lot of gifts could be easier. Before creating orders, please make sure you are in the correct market (key/BTC). Please also remember the price is in TF2 keys.

NOTE: If you have Steam community items prior to the update, please re-deposit them all. We need to re-index these items.

''Bitcoin trade has a fixed fee of 0.5%, regardless of your fee level.''

''The transaction fee of Bitcoin on Dispenser.tf is 1%. The fee has to be paid for both buyer and seller. For the value of Bitcoin, it is updated automatically according to the BitcoinAverage price index.''

so which one, or is the 1% the 2 together ?

Thanks for the comment, here is a list of things we will do:

1. Remove buyer fee (irrelevant right now since there is no fee)

that should apply to bitcoin too to be honest, if you want people to start trading in bitcoin, because they will only use keys

i mean i understand your point but if you remove the key fee, then no one with bitcoin, because he will ask the seller to add on steam

http://dispenser.tf/?page=2&s=counter-strike%20complete
http://dispenser.tf/?page=3&s=flight%20simulator
http://dispenser.tf/?s=The+Talos+Principle

please fix cis issues

http://dispenser.tf/market/10868/ > its row not cis

Dont like it, prefer the old system.

please also increase the 50 key credit maximum, if i go to sleep and i sell more than 20 csgo for example i wont have space for anything else, so my buyers cant buy more, thats really bad. and it was only 1 game, imagine it with gta 5-s, after you sell 2 you cant do anything

or if you can just place a tf2 key into our backpack after every 1 credit, this way we can sell games 24/7 without clearing (pretty much the purpose of this website) without having to check the credit, to make sure its not more than 50, so i can accept more payments.

my friend http://steamcommunity.com/id/1111111119/

just bought my rust from the market for 7 keys, and he didnt get the gift, so now he cant withdraw the keys, and rust is just sitting in my inventory without being able to do anything with it.

please fix that too

"Now a lot of people said they would be happily with a subscription model instead. If we really change to a subscription model then people would start asking why you cannot think of some other ways to generate profit."

Nope. Subscription model (if the price won't be to high) for sure will become more acceptable than this market system (where You can sell something only if Your price will be the lowest one - really? Dispenser for me never was some kind of "race" ~till now). Joto please consider thing like that : You opening the market You created on new domain and You keeping alive dispenser (old one with improved CS:GO api + if You can please add more slots for customize price)

It is confusing because most things are not WAD. I have been reporting 9-10 bugs to Cara and a lot of things that are not working like the test environment and he is working hard to improve them. So give him some time.

How can something that isn't WAD be more buyer friendly than the old system thats was as close to WAD as possible?

Now a lot of people said they would be happily with a subscription model instead. If we really change to a subscription model then people would start asking why you cannot think of some other ways to generate profit. It's like that every single time when there is a change.

Maybe you're right. But maybe you're not.

I find it extremely frustrating that you didn't gave us, as a community, your community, a chance to chime in on the issue before implementing such drastic changes. A message asking for feedback, a simple poll could have given you a better feel of your own community.

I love this site, Joto. And I certainly appreciate and recognize all your hard work here. But, as it is, I must agree with many of the users here that says that if feels as if you're punishing your VIP sellers with this new system.

But in the end, it's your site, so it's your prerogative. I'm just sad to see things going this way.

Because most of the time people raise point about why things sucks and why things should be changed but unable to give any suggestions. We find that each time we change something at a sudden we will get much more feedback (and some really good one too) and we can get things correct in a much shorter time. Remember last time when we change trading to trade offer and everyone was saying it was bad and it was the end of dispenser.tf?

Really, people, just give it some time. We are constantly working on the site so many things you see right now will be adjusted and improved.

Can any of you think from the buyer's perspective? Please tell me why the lowest price should not sell before the others, just because the old site interface and search were broken?

Link to profile of dispenser, which should show all other links to each trade now doesn't work anymore - like this http://dispenser.tf/id/76561197978210095 or http://dispenser.tf/antosheek . If you do as you says, according to point 3. - the trades that WERE BEFORE should be AVAILABLE NOW TOO. So these links should work.

I honestly don't give a damn if my trades are shown in your search results or not - that's not what I use, but I paid to have service that sells my stuff 24/7. You kinda broke that - that's nice that "individual" links work, but I see no reason why "profile" link doesn't anymore.

Also about subscription: it's not bad idea you know. Dispenser marketplace ... meh. Credit systems are bad thing, like who uses tf2wh now. Sure, do as you want, just keep the old system with links and selling working as it should.

If you close that, then there is no need for me to stay here as it's the only reason why I'm usind dispenser.tf. For normal selling I got other sites (outpost,bazaar,bp.tf,scrap.tf) withouth fees (with subsrciption!) so why should I be using this.

So please, make the main link work too, I don't care about the rest.

If you are VIP you can actually store key up to your maximum shop space. I do not know if I have forgotten to write this somewhere, but key credit is automatically converted to keys if needed.

The shop URL works, just the trades are missing if that is what you mean? They will be added back soon.

Well the thing about subscription is we made a very bad mistake for selling life-time VIP, which turns out to be that our life are actually quite limited to support people lifetime.

Please ask your friend if the website has prompted him to receive the game (he should see a button "Collect Game" on the top). This is important because I need to know if it is sent but not received or not sent at all.

Hi Joto,

New system seems to be a promising one, but still a lot of efforts should be put into it to make the system really good. But I think you know it yourself. The thing I wanted to ask is about the maximum credit. As for now, it is only 50, which can be really not enough. Can this cap be increased for VIPs?

Please read a few post back. It will take up shop space if key credit limit is reach. This is actually a limit mainly for free user.

Because the revoked gift resellers will get used a lot more, the old way the cheapest never came up which I thought was fine as it was. I usually bought from sellers who had more trade history as oppose to the cheapest price

Theres one reason
