We are pleased to release our new addition to Dispenser.tf - Market.

Here is a short FAQ about the new site, hopefully it will answer most commonly asked questions.

1. What is the difference between Dispenser.tf market and the Steam's community market?

Here is a few:

a. Our base credit is "Key" and "Bitcoin".
b. We feature trading between Bitcoin, Steam gifts (including untradable ones) and key interchanging.
c. Our fee is much lower than Steam market's, which should result in lowered item price.
d. We do not have the design flaw that the final exchange price only follows the user's input price, but ignoring if there are better price orders on the book.

2. Why make a market system at all?

We have been criticized for being too buyer unfriendly for having a poor search system and a somewhat complicated interface. The old system could not be further improved due to technical difficulties. For example, we could sort items by price as we did not have a common currency. We hope a market system can solve many of these problems and at the same time adds useful features. Also, there is a need to change the business model so that the website is actually self-sustainable and rewarding for increasing the amount of users. In our old model, more people using the website gives us no real benefit but paying more for the maintenance.

3. What will happen to the old system?

The old system will be kept for now. If you prefer the old style, you still can create those 'tradition trades'. However, we will no longer list these trades under the main page and search also won't support it. As a seller, that means you will have to send out your trade links directly to your buyers. The old system won't be developed much anymore. It's only kept to waive fee for sellers who have their own customers base and do not rely on the site to get exposure.

4. What is the new fee system?

We will be charging fee to support the long-term development of the site. It is a progressive structure that the fee percent is based on the volume traded in 30 days.

June is going to be the public beta testing period. We will not be taking any fees until July 13 BTC issue is resolved. But the trade volume you have made in this period will still be counted, which means your fee could be as low as 0.25% once we start taking fee.

5. Are there any other updates to the site?

In addition to the market, we have made two very important updates to fix certain important problems.

a. CS:GO trading no longer uses Valve's abandoned API. There should be no longer any downtime for CS:GO trading and at the same time we have added skin, exteriors and various item info to all CS:GO items.

b. Gem, trading cards and other community items now will be distributed via centralized bots, to bypass a limitation added by Valve recently that disabled limited accounts (including our bots) for trading these items. You may now notice trade offers coming from non-shop bots when you exchange these items.

c. Lots of bug fixes and an interface change, mainly to adapt to the market system.

6. So, how should I get started?

As a buyer, the only real change about purchasing item is that there is one more step involved: depositing keys for credit. After you have convert your keys to credit, you will search and buy your items just like how you used to, in a slightly different interface. But if you have experience in the Steam market or other similar markets, our market should not be difficult to use at all. It is like Steam market with keys and Bitcoin as currency. Please read the FAQ if you need some help.

As a seller, making orders may be more troublesome than before if you have many different types of items, due to the limitation that you can only update one market at a time. But now you have more options for your trades, for example selling a gift for 6.05 keys, or re-selling gifts by putting ask and bid orders in the same market etc. We will continue to improve the interface so that handling a lot of gifts could be easier. Before creating orders, please make sure you are in the correct market (key/BTC). Please also remember the price is in TF2 keys.

NOTE: If you have Steam community items prior to the update, please re-deposit them all. We need to re-index these items.

There are few things we definitely need to support basic customers. I know traders, resellers etc who buy in dispenser will get along fine, but some extra work needs to be done for basic guys.

1) Remove buyer fee so only seller pays. This will enable improvement 2) and also simplify things for buyers. Seller can raise price if he wants to compensate for fee, but there is no such option for buyers.
2) Allow buyers to buy games without uploading keys to dispenser, if price is N (where N - integer) or N + 0.4 (N keys + 1 tod) or N + 0.8 (N keys + 2 tods). Take seller fee off its credit and leave keys in his inventory. Block shop if traders fee goes below -2 or something.

Overall opening gift in search and seeing all sell orders is really helpful and nice feature. We can now bookmark our sales and monitor them, adjust prices much easier than before. But there is A LOT to do if dispenser wants to keep transactions to happen here (instead of users migrating away).

Also bug:
image issue is now worse. JS hack ( render_inventory_img($("canvas")) ) no longer works. Basic hack (opening trade and hitting cancel) also no longer works, because cancel button is broken...
EDIT: looks like this issue is not happening always. Reloaded page like 10 times and now both hack and cancel method works.

thats very important because if they buyer wants to buy something for 7 keys, and he has 7 keys, he cant buy the game because of the .05 fee or whatever, so its really dumb.

Also on the market listing please add popularity, so they can see if the cheapest guy is some random new vip, or a relieable one with 500+ popularity

Remove the buyers fee, it has no sense and most of the game traders will lose a lot of sales because most of the regular game buyer dont know the credit system and wont pay 1 key to get credit for a game that cost f.e. 2 keys. Is a horrible system for potential/new buyers that will make ppl reject using it.
Im here for nearly 2 years and Im pleased with all the changes made, but not this one,

I understand the fee method for you to get money, but both paying fees is no a good idea.

The search system seems ok for me.

Old issue, but still - please fix your search. For example:
* "dead space 2" yields no results (missing TM most likely)
* "counter strike global offensive" yields no results (missing - between counter and strike)
and so on.

I do not agree with these changes. I payed 50 usd for a vip account with the normal system. If I knew you will make this system to dispenser I would never buy a vip account. This is not fair.

My guess tonight there will only few transactions made, unless someone finds exploit that allow purchase everything with 1key or something :D

If joto will think logically, then he will remove the buyer fees, all he is doing this way is making people do trades outsides of his website.

would the buyer buy it with fees when he can just add someone from outpost and do it without the fees ? no he will not.

we will still suck with the seller fees but atleast dont send the buyers away..

Why is base currency TF2 key? most of traders are using Special cs:go keys. I dont like this change

I don't mind not having my trades show up in the searches, but when I go to my store page, I would like all of my trades to show up, instead of having to link to each individual trade offsite.

So https://dispenser.tf/yuutt66 should list all of my trades, including https://dispenser.tf/trade/140760/ instead of only listing the new types of trades

The new system is TERRIBLE. As previously mentioned by other users, if I knew this would happen, I would NEVER have paid for a premium account. Will you refund those who doesnt want to keep their VIP/premium accounts?

Issue: Filtering listings by bitcoin does not re-paginate list. I have to scroll through empty pages to see any listings in BTC..

Yea, you just killed this site. I hope you have the sense to revert everything to the old style.

i WIll ready comments now,
But this update is the most bad thing what happened, why this ?, the basic thing what a dumb user can buy is all gone now,

Can i Pay again for the old system ???, what happened i really liked dispenser since i bought my vip, and already talked with friend why not the make it with something we need to pay each month, but this credit system is really, believe me no new customers will join this site.

More work for you Joto? Yes I believe you, but this credit system just ruined that "Dispenser" site we all knew. Even with the old system people were strugling to buy ( at least the not so intelligent ones ), but this Update ruined everything. I can't link my Store URL to sites like Tf2outpost so the "Buyer" can check out everything in my Shop NO NO, i must link every trade separate. - Lots of people were searching for games to Buy directly on Dispenser, like those reselling traders, bulk buyers and other individual people who checked out Dispenser or they just started out. The ONLY BAD thing with the old System was Lag as Joto said and CS:GO API was Not independent. Everything else was just PERFECT. I would Pay monthly/yearly Subscription like on Tf2outpost for Dispenser OLD SYSTEM! And I think lots of Sellers agree with me too. So everyone makes money. You could make Dispenser Market separate with the Old System and everyone would be happy. I make most of my profits because Dispenser's Old System, after this Update I barely had a few Sales, and people are adding me on Steam confused about the site even MORE! I know it's a lot of work with the old system and you are working hard Joto, but this ruined everything. I hate todays digital age with "credit" system everywhere. Thanks, RIP Dispenser.
